January 17,Monday:

Jammu: The president of Kashmir division of the Bhartiya Janta Party Monday said that his party carder will defy every restriction to hoist India tricolour on January 26 (Republic Day) at the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

“We are 20,000 members in J&K and we will defy each restriction to hoist the flag at Lal Chowk,” BJP president, Kashmir Division, Sofi Mohammad Yousuf said during a press conference at the party office here.
“We are Indians and Constitution gives us a full right to hoist flag where ever we want,” Sofi added.
Sofi said, "unnecessary" statements of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah are making the party's youth wing's plan to hoist the Indian tricolour “a political issue”.
Referring to Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Yasin Malik, Sofi said, Malik was responsible for the killing of 120 innocent civilians.
Pertinently, Malik has also called for a march to Lal  Chowk on January 26 to stall BJP’s flag hoisting plan. Malik’s call has been endorsed by Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
