Dusshera celebrated with fervor in Kashmir


                       

 25 October:   Dussehra was celebrated with fervor as hundreds of people turned up at the TRC ground here to watch giant-sized effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnath burn.
 

Dushera is celebrated every year on the 10th day of Navratra.   The event at TRC was organized by the Kashmiri Pandit Sangrash Simiti (KPSS).
 

“We are here to celebrate the victory of Ram over Ravana, to celebrate the victory of good over bad,” said KPSS member Rahul Tickoo. Senior pro-freedom leader Shabir Shah also joined Kashmiri Pandits in their celebration of the  festival.
 

“I came here to congratulate my Kashmiri Pandit brothers. Since generations, Kashmiri Muslims have been  participating in the traditions of their Pandit brethern. Some people want to draw a line between us but we will foil their designs,” he said.
 

A large number of Muslims were also present at TRC . “We are lucky that our Muslim brothers have joined us in Dusshera celebrations,” said a devotee , Sham Lal Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Governor NN Vohra ,several politicians and ministers have wished people of Jammu and Kashmir on the festival.
 

 PDP Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and President  Mehbooba Mufti also greeted people on the occasion of Dussehra and Navratra.
